Q: How long have you been doing this?
A: I have always decorated my house for as long as I can remember.
When I bought my first house in 2006, I only had 5,000 lights on it.
2007 was the first year for the animated
display. It
featured over 20,000 lights! Not only did I add 16,000 lights, but I added the computer
controllers and fm broadcaster.
Q: How long does it take to put up all the
lights?
A: In 2007 it took about a week. This year I expect it to actually
take less time though. The main reason is that last year I hot
glued all those lights to the bricks, but this year I am pre mounting
them to frames which I will then attach to the house.
Q: How much is your electric bill?
A: In 2007, it only ran me 40 dollars more that month. It is
considerably cheaper then you would think, due to the fact that the
lights are off more than they are on.
Q: Do you have your own radio station?
A: No. We broadcast our music over a low powered FM broadcasting
unit located within the display. The effective range is only a few
blocks away.
Q: What do the neighbors think about the
display?
A: I have been told by many that they enjoy it and are looking forward
to it each year. To keep everyone happy, I ask that if you come to
visit, please do not block their driveways and be courteous of others
driving down the street.
Q: I just missed the show, will you turn it
back on for me?
A: Sorry, I can't make exceptions to the times the shows run. It
is all computer controlled.
